Math sucked when you were a kid. The way it was taught when you were in school focused on memorization and algorithms. By the time you were in high school you only took the mandatory math and by college you avoided it entirely. Sound familiar?

Would you like to increase your own confidence in math so you don’t pass math anxiety on to your kids? Girls especially pick up on moms’ attitudes towards math which is one reason they don’t typically continue on to math or science based careers. Is your child turned off by math like you were, or simply falling behind her or his classmates? If you often hear the phrase “I suck at math,” it’s time to do something about it.

I invite you to leave your fears at the door and come re-build your math foundation in a caring and non-judgmental environment. Re-learn or polish up your own number sense and mental math skills while learning strategies to help your own child. Review those fractions, percents and decimals with direct instruction, games, comics, writing and engaging projects unique to you and your child’s needs.
